The announced obsolescence of Flash and the broadcast of training content on ever more numerous and different devices, today require of training actors to make a strategic choice on conversion to HTML5. OPERANTIS already supports his customers in this process.
The end of Flash Player life
After many years of good and loyal services, Adobe has confirmed in July 2017 the end of Flash Player life.
In order to enable companies to convert their Flash content to open web standards, Adobe is committed to maintaining updates and distribution of its plugin until the end of 2020.
In recent years, the concepts and features developed through Flash Player have gradually been adopted by the open standards of the Web. The most recent browsers offer functionalities that respond to users’ needs.
Adobe continues to actively participate in the development of open standards of the Web, including the HTML5 standard. Its flagship software for creating rich and interactive content evolves and becomes Animate CC. This allows HTML5 content to be created and uses the Canvas element to dynamically render content.
A strong experience in the conversion
OPERANTIS has a rich experience on conversion issues, on both e-Learning training content and simulation tools.
Some software can already publish in HTML5 the content previously produced using PowerPoint, Captivate or Storyline. OPERANTIS uses this software for this purpose. However, we have often had to enrich and optimize the publication process to adapt to functional specificities or use of these products for our customers.
On the other hand, we have also processed many courses developed in Adobe Flash, and presenting many exceptions in terms of architecture, navigation engine, animation structuring, complex scripts in Action Script, or even special features.
Finally, we also realized conversions on simulation emulators, fully developed in Flash, and that we have reprocessed in HTML5.
OPERANTIS thus benefits from concrete experience feedback on many conversions.
A strategic decision
It is important to anticipate the decision to convert to HTML5 to make your training content sustainable beyond the end of Flash Player’s life. Some of our customers made this strategic decision and trusted us to guide them in this transition.
